SWS classes are taught on a weekly basis in multiple locations and are open to all military personnel and their families. We are able to provide these classes at no cost to the patient due entirely to donations from individuals like you.

If you'd like to help SWS there are three areas to consider: time, talent, and treasure.

Treasure: Giving

Soldiers Who Salsa relies on financial donations to keep current programs going and to expand to other locations. To make it easy, you can choose one of the methods in the "Make a Donation" section of this page; to donate. Many companies also have matching gift programs, so don't forget to inquire about those forms as well! If the company you work for would be willing to meet with us and discuss corporate sponsorship of classes and events, we have Board members in Bethesda, Dallas, and San Diego who would be willing to come to your office and explore ways we could work together, or we can arrange a Skype or Google video call anywhere worldwide.

If you are an avid dancer, consider hosting a dance party where a portion of the entry fee gets donated to Soldiers Who Salsa. As you may have seen in a previous newsletter, the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Gaithersburg, MD hosted just such an evening and raised over $2,000!

If any of the above made you say "I could do that!" then feel free to send an email to our Executive Director, Jennifer Ables, by clicking here.

Check donations may be mailed to SWS at the below address. All donations are tax-deductible.

Time: Become A Dance Partner

Do you have military ID or would you be willing to apply to be an official volunteer through Red Cross or Armed Services YMCA (depending on location) for one of our dance classes? Having reliable regular volunteers provides a familiar friendly face and can make patients feel more at ease as they learn all the skills involved with dancing. Different locations have different requirements for registering volunteers if you do not have military ID and would require base access.

Talent: Other Volunteer Opportunities

Do you love to organize events? Is computer programming your passion? Or perhaps you have the specialized and coveted skill of grant writing? Lending your unique skill set can be just as valuable to charitable organizations like ours as donating financially. We can use your assistance in many areas, including graphic design, marketing, legal advice, grant writing, programming.
